about

‘Spinning Alone’ is a reworked and reimagined version of ‘Never Alone’, - the scene setting opening track from their debut album ‘Wyndow’. ‘Spinning Alone’ refracts the autumnal feel of the original and dives deeper into the weeds, looking for cosmic connections in a galaxy of individualism and spinning thoughts. “Never Alone felt like the beginning of something, a promise without resolution which was ripe for retooling, so we took the hammer to marble and chiseled until our fingers bled!” says Laura.

Submarine analogue synth tones and found sounds sit upon layers of Harmonia-esque percussion with the duo’s multi layered vocals gliding amongst the varied guitars and flutes. Think Linda Perhacs backed by Floyd at Pompeii mixed by Roedelius.

lyrics

Thoughts long ago
Circling days
Long since forgotten the feeling
Wandered through weeds
Thickened by rain
Twisted through gallons of waiting

How can we keep it turning 'round
Spinning alone
It's old
Where they can find me
Never alone
Spinning alone

Failing in tune
Familiar moves
Delayed in the absence of writing
Foreign in touch
Same as it (once) was
When will it feel like returning

How can they carry on like that
Leave me alone
They know
Where they can find me
Never alone
Spinning alone
